Before you write a letter
Frequently asked questions.
Everything practical about beginning, waiting, catching up, and keeping the installments coming.
Do I need to start with the first issue?
Yes. The story is designed to unfold in order, month by month.
Can I subscribe after the story has begun?
Absolutely. You will receive the earlier installments first so you can catch up, then continue on the regular monthly schedule.
Can I give a subscription as a gift?
Yes—and Kevin thinks it may be the best possible gift idea for anyone. Use the recipient’s mailing address at checkout.
Is Notes from Dry Pond available online?
No. No portion of the novel will be published online. The printed object and its monthly arrival are part of the work.
Is this a religious story?
Faith is part of many characters’ lives, and Camp Meeting is organized around worship, but this is not a sermon. It is a novel about people.
How much is based on Kevin’s life?
More than people might expect, and less than they will probably assume. The emotional landscape is personal; the Doyle family is fictional.
Will the installments be collected in one edition?
Yes, eventually. But the monthly installments are the original form of the project.
Are there plans for more volumes?
Yes. Kevin has outlined generations of the Doyle family from Reconstruction through the present, spanning the Carolinas.
Can I order from outside the United States?
International orders require a shipping quote. Contact the publisher before purchasing.
What if I move during my subscription?
Send your new mailing address to publisher@drypond.org as early as possible so the next issue finds you.
